Def Jam isn't alone, new fighter from EA

1UP is reporting that EA Chicago, in addition to Def Jam: Icon and the next Fight Night, is working on another fighter. The announcement from EA declares that they are working on "a licensed title and a new intellectual property in the fighting videogame genre." We have no idea what the licensed title could be, but 1UP suggests that the new IP might be the rock and roll version of Def Jam, allowing players to pit the likes of David Bowie and Gene Simmons against each other. While the idea is interesting, we'd rather see EA create an entirely new fighter so they can spend time tuning the gameplay instead of the concept. How about the rest of you? Would you like to see Green Day face off with Metallica, or would you rather have something new?

1. Please tell me that speculation is completely unfounded, because that sounds like the stupidest idea for a fighting game ever... well, almost as stupid as Shaq Fu anyway.

I bet there's some sort of other IP they would use... maybe TMNT?

2. I'd like to see Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy face off against Lyndsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Hilary Duff - hope they make a game about that...

3. Maybe after the WWE thing with THQ that EA have got the rights to the next game???

Or it could be the game for the new Rocky film

4. Hell, I don't know, maybe just maybe, I would like to bash Green Days head in with Metallica... Or bash Lars' head in with Rob Zombie... Actually I like the idea of making Shaq Fu: DA SEQUEL featuring hidden character Kobe Bryant, unlockable by paying just 1600 MS points!!!

Screw EA....

5. Fight Night round 4 will now include extra content, including the "press start to play button" for 800 pts on xbox live. Wanna be able to begin the game? sick of watching the introduction? for only $10 dollars, you can play the game that you already paid $60 for.

and early 2007: look forward to the "save pack" for only 400 pts.

6. Out of the box you get one crappy fighter, but for a few MS points you can get a decent fighter, for alot of MS points you get a great fighter. And for thousands of MS points, EA will put in a computer generated enemy that you can use your fighter to fight. But only after you buy the cheat codes from EA. Seriously, I will never buy an EA game.

7. wow, ea is like sony now. a lot of bad publicity lately. the worst thing about the ea charging for stuff that should be included is if morons buy it other companies will follow. Boycott them and dont buy it, make a statement to the other companies as well.

8. deter1ii - at one point EA had some developers who could make a decent title or two (SSX3)... but at this point... I feel like I was suckered into getting fight night round 3.

EA: never.again.

9. OMFG. David effing guildleader of calamitous intent Bowing?! I'd buy the game so damn fast EA's fat money filled wallets would spin. Especially if everytime you win david bowie does that fabulous turn to pose he does and it plays that "let's dance" riff from zoolander.

10. I probably shouldn't say this, but I know a guy who works at EA Chicago. Let that sink in, because i'm sure you've heard it before and it sounds like bull****... ready?

It's a Marvel Licensed Fighting game. That's all I know. Last I talked to him they were putting the final touches on the ps3 version of fight night 3, but they were begining work on the marvel fighter.

You may now tell me I am full of sh*t. I don't care.
